Main corridors
The interstates most of our Texas loads run on: I-35, I-10, I-45, I-20, I-30, I-69 / US-59.
I-35 is the NAFTA spine from Laredo through San Antonio, Austin and DFW. I-10 and I-20 carry West Texas and Permian freight, and I-45 links DFW and Houston.
Freight and seasons
Expect chemicals and resin out of Houston, cross-border auto parts and electronics out of Laredo and El Paso, oilfield pipe and equipment around the Permian, produce from the Valley and retail freight around DFW. Reefer demand in the Rio Grande Valley climbs during Mexico's produce season, roughly fall to spring.
Texas rules to know
Every interstate carrier needs a USDOT number, MC authority, UCR and, for most semis, IRP plates and an IFTA license. On top of that:
Interstate vs. Texas intrastate authority
Interstate carriers only need their USDOT number and MC. If you haul loads that start and end in Texas, you need a TxDMV number for trucks with a gross, registered or rated weight over 26,000 lb, for placarded hazmat and a few other cases. Source
West Texas runs into New Mexico
Texas has no weight-distance tax, but New Mexico does for trucks declared over 26,000 lb. Get the New Mexico permit before an El Paso or Permian load crosses the line. Source

How we dispatch here
- We book the reload before your truck heads to Laredo or El Paso. Northbound freight is plentiful but competitive.
- Hotshots and flatbeds: we watch Permian oilfield demand and plan around the long empty stretches of West Texas.
- Reefers: we time Rio Grande Valley produce loads for the season and check pulp temperature requirements on every rate con.
- Box trucks: DFW and Houston have steady local and regional freight for 26-foot trucks.

Questions carriers ask
Do I need Texas authority to haul in Texas?
Not if every load is interstate. If a load starts and ends in Texas and your truck is over 26,000 lb, you need a TxDMV number in addition to your USDOT.
Do you dispatch hotshots in the Permian Basin?
Yes. Hotshot dispatch is a percentage of the load's gross, and our office is in Midland.
Are Texas outbound rates low?
Some Texas lanes pay less going out than coming in, and it changes by season. We compare both directions before booking so the round trip works.
