Truck parking and weigh stations
| Rest area | Where | Truck spaces |
|---|---|---|
| Hill County rest areas | I-35, both directions, mile 362A, about 5 miles south of Hillsboro | 62 (2018 count) |
| Eastland County rest areas | I-20, eastbound mile 353 just east of Ranger, westbound mile 359 | Separate truck parking; TxDOT doesn't list a count |

The Hill County count and the Wise County note are from NCTCOG's 2018 Truck Parking Study, the latest count by site; locations and features are from TxDOT's rest area pages, checked October 2026. The study found more than 100 truck stops with over 4,100 truck spaces in North Texas, named I-35W north of downtown Fort Worth and Parker County on I-20 as corridors that need more parking, and found the one major truck stop on I-35W at Alliance (SH 170, about 150 spaces) at or near capacity most of the day. Weigh stations

What we book, by truck type
Dry van
Distribution centers at Alliance and along I-35W, plus intermodal freight off the BNSF ramp, keep dry vans busy. We look for reloads close to Fort Worth so you're not deadheading out of the Metroplex.
Reefer
Food distribution in Fort Worth, Rio Grande Valley citrus and South Texas onions moving north on I-35, and grocery freight for the metro keep reefers moving. We check temperatures and appointment times on every load.
Flatbed
Building materials, machinery and equipment for the area's aerospace and truck plants give flatbeds steady work. We check securement, tarp needs and permits before we book.
Box truck
Final-mile and store freight across Tarrant County, and event freight around the Stock Show in January and February, suit 26-foot box trucks.
Power only
Preloaded trailers and drop-and-hook freight out of Alliance warehouses and the intermodal ramp work well for power only units.
How we dispatch here
- Truck parking around Alliance is tight: NCTCOG found one major truck stop on that stretch of I-35W, at SH 170, at or near capacity most of the day, so we plan your stop before you roll
- We never send you to park on Fort Worth streets. Oversize commercial vehicles can't park on residential streets or stay more than 2 hours on other streets
- We check I-35W conditions on DriveTexas and set appointment times around rush hour between SH 183 and I-30
- Heading west on I-20, the next state rest areas with truck parking are in Eastland County, near Ranger, so we plan fuel and parking before you leave the metro
- Interstate carriers only need their USDOT number and MC. Loads that start and end in Texas need TxDMV intrastate operating authority
State rules, permits and taxes are on our Texas dispatch page.
Pricing
a percentage of the load's gross, quoted for your truck and lanes, charged only on loads we book. No contract, and your first load is free.

Questions carriers ask
Are there loads out of Fort Worth?
Yes. AllianceTexas has BNSF's intermodal hub, an Amazon air hub, FedEx's Southwest sort hub and a UPS ground hub, and distribution centers line I-35W, so dry van, reefer and intermodal freight moves in and out all year. We search the major load boards and our broker contacts for loads that fit your lanes and minimum rate.
How many trucking companies are based in Fort Worth?
FMCSA's company census lists 1,646 active interstate trucking companies with a Fort Worth address as of October 2026. 1,504 of them haul for hire, and about two out of three of those run one truck or less.
Where can I park a truck overnight near Fort Worth?
Public parking is thin. NCTCOG's 2018 study found only one TxDOT rest area in North Texas, on US 287 north of Decatur, with no dedicated truck parking. The closest TxDOT rest areas with truck parking are on I-35 south of Hillsboro (62 spaces in 2018) and on I-20 near Ranger in Eastland County. Most parking is at truck stops: NCTCOG counted more than 100 in the region with over 4,100 spaces.
Can I park my truck on Fort Worth streets?
Not for long. As NCTCOG summarized the city code in 2018, oversize commercial vehicles can't park on residential streets or on residentially zoned property, and can't stay on any other street for more than 2 hours.
Is there a weigh station in Fort Worth?
We couldn't find a permanent weigh station in Tarrant County or published state list of one. Texas DPS Commercial Vehicle Enforcement troopers enforce size, weight and safety rules across the state, so keep your scale tickets and paperwork in order.

I-20 west through Parker County carried about 13,750 trucks a day and I-35W about 11,400 in the TxDOT counts NCTCOG used in 2018. I-35W from SH 183 to I-30 ranked No. 6 in Texas for truck delay in 2022.
What freight is seasonal around Fort Worth?

Do I need Texas operating authority?
Not if every load is interstate. If a load starts and ends in Texas, you need TxDMV intrastate operating authority in addition to your USDOT number.
